Refugee Week runs from June 18 to 25.
The five-a-side tournament will include teams from Leeds refugee communities and is one of a range of activities planned in the city. It takes place at South Leeds stadium on Sunday, June 18.
Others include a c
arnival procession to officially launch the week on Monday, June 19. It begins outside Leeds Central Library in the Headrow at noon, and will involve a walk through the city centre with banners, music, colourful costumes, and the handing out of leaflets raising awareness about refugee communities, and the programme for the week.
Back at the Central library after the procession there will be an Afghan choir and speeches from the Refugee Community Organisation Forum chairwoman, Clarise Spense and Fabian Hamilton, MP for north-east Leeds.
A spokeswoman for the organisers said: "The procession is intended to be joyful, celebrating the contribution that refugees have made to our community over the years, both culturally and economically.
Exhibitions
"We would love people to join us, bringing musical instruments, dance, and traditional dress."
Throughout the week there will photographic exhibitions on detention and life in a refugee camp at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Leeds Metropolitan University. Details from info@refugeeweek.org.uk
