A middle-aged-man who fathered a child with a 15-year-old girl has been jailed for a year.
Stephen Miller, 46, of Farrow Green, Armley, struck up a friendship with the youngster and she would drink alcohol and smoke cannabis at his home, Leeds Crown Court heard.

The girl told her father she was pregnant last February and a DNA test confirmed Miller was the father.

Prosecutor Philip Adams said: "She also said the defendant had tried to persuade her to take a contraceptive pill and after she fell pregnant he had put pressure on her to have an abortion."

Miller, who had admitted sexual activity with a child, told police he had unprotected sex with the girl on just one occasion.

Jonathan Rose, for Miller, said: "This is not a case of a predatory man seeking out a young girl and then taking advantage of her. The only aggravating feature is that she became pregnant.

He added: "This is a young lady who was sexually active before intercourse between her and the defendant."

Judge Ian Dobkin jailed Miller for 12 months and ordered that his name be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.
