A teenage girl was allegedly raped after catching the bus home from Leeds.
The 15-year-old was allegedly attacked after she got off the bus in Otley.
Detectives are hoping that images of the man have been captured by security cameras at Leeds and Otley bus stations or on the bus.
The alleged attack happened between 7.30pm and 8.15pm on Monday in the car park of William Sinclair & Sons, which runs between the rear of North Parade and North Street, Otley.
The girl had boarded an X84 service at the main bus station in Leeds city centre at about 6.40pm and it is believed her attacker was also on this bus. The bus arrived in Otley at about 7.25pm and the victim was followed down Boroughgate by the suspect.
The girl was not physically injured, but was left shocked. She contacted her parents who alerted police.
Today, Det Supt Steve Payne, leading the investigation, appealed to any passengers who were on the X84 service between Leeds bus station and Otley to get in touch.
Mr Payne said: "It is vitally important that people come forward and speak to us, even if they don't think they necessarily saw anything of use to us.
"We are also very keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Otley bus station around the relevant time or in the area of the William Sinclair & Sons car park."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact detectives via the helpdesk at Weetwood police station on 0113 241 3459 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555.
