Put your shirt on United – and get your Leeds United shirt on.

That's the message from the YEP to our readers in the countdown to the Wembley play-offs final – and it's all in a good cause.

We're urging as many fans as possible to spend tomorrow in replica Leeds tops ahead of the crunch game on Sunday.Fans who aren't allowed to wear football kit at work could go with themed outfits in United's colours of white, yellow and blue.

Everyone taking part in tomorrow's Wear Your Colours day is being invited to make a donation to the children's wards at Leeds General Infirmary and St James's Hospital.

And over the last few days some well-known faces have been doing their bit to get the city in the mood for the occasion.

Council leader, Coun Andrew Carter, told the YEP: "Let's make sure the team knows just how proud we are of them."

Harvey Nichols doorman John Rooney, meanwhile, donned a United scarf along with his usual top hat and tails.

On ward 51 on the Clarendon Wing at LGI, play specialist Sharon Panesar pulled on a 1970s-style shirt as she looked after young fans Aaliyah Bari, 16 months, and Israr Ahmed, three.

Cash raised tomorrow should be sent to Sharon Edwards, The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation, Fundraising Office, Leeds General Infirmary, Great George Street, Leeds, LS1 3EX.

If people making donations say who they represent the hospital can send out 'thank you' notes. They are also asked to specify that the money was raised on Wear Your Colours day.

Cheques should be made payable to The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation.

l Are you planning to mark Wear Your Colours day? We want to hear from you. Ring YEP newsdesk assistant Shirley Whitehead on 0113 238 8917 or e-mail shirley.white head@ypn.co.uk putting Colours in the subject box.
