A CIVIL servant from Leeds is to face child abduction charges after allegedly contacting his victim on the internet.

Trevor Irving, 54, is accused of abducting a 14-year-old girl after being spotted with her in the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Shoppers at the centre raised the alarm after becoming suspicious after seeing the man with the young girl, who comes from the Astley area of Wigan.

Worried onlookers reported that the man was acting inappropriately with the girl.

The Yorkshire Evening Post understands Irving, of Edgeware Mount, Harehills, is an administrative office with the Department of Work and Pensions, based at Southern House, York Road.

He will appear before Wigan Magistrates' Court on April 16.
