A man has been arrested and charged with wounding by police investigating the knifing of four men in Leeds city centre.
The 20-year-old who was detained on Friday on suspicious of a wounding offence and later charged was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court.

But police inquiries into who was responsible for the stabbing of the four men in the Call Lane area at about 4.30am last Monday were continuing unabated today.

Det Chief Insp Sukhbir Singh of the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Crime Unit leading the investigation, repeated his appeal for a woman who become involved in an argument with a man outside the Puro night club prior to the stabbings to contact police immediately. At the time she had curly hair and was wearing a black dress with gold trim and a belt.

He also appealed for four women who had gone to the aid of one of the four stabbed men to come forward as they may have vital information about the incident.

"We are only interested in speaking to them as potential witnesses,"he said.

The four injured men were in a party of five from the Nottingham area who had travelled to Leeds for a night out.

four Nottingham men, all in their early twenties, ended up being stabbed. The fifth man was unhurt.

Three of the injured were later released from hospital but the most seriously injured was detained although it is understood initially he was unable to speak to police due to the nature and severity of his facial injuries.

Five youths, aged between 16 and 19, had previously been arrested and released on bail.

Detectives also want to hear from anyone with information about the incident. Callers should ring the helpdesk at Holbeck on 0845 6060606 06 or to text 07786 200806 using the word: stabbing followed by a space.Callers can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
