A 15-year-old with learning difficulties was lured into a trap by a gang of boys – one aged 11 – who stripped off his clothes, robbed and beat him.

The 15-year-old boy was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with head injuries and was so badly bruised he was unable to see.

The attack, in which the youths set fire to their victim's clothes, took place at 7.30pm on Sunday in scrubland near the Middleton Arms pub on Middleton Park Road, Middleton, Leeds.

During the attack the boy's mobile phone was also taken. It is believed that those involved may have been known to their victim.

It is understood that police at Holbeck Division were alerted by the ambulance and hospital authorities after the teenager was admitted to Leeds Infirmary.

Detectives investigating the attack have appealed for witnesses to contact the Holbeck division helpdesk on 0113 241 4685 or 0845 6060606.

Three boys aged 11, 13 and 14 have been arrested by police on suspicion of robbery. They were questioned before being released by officers pending further investigations.
