A ROLLER derby team, archaeologists and Indian dancers are some of West Yorkshire's winners in the latest National Lottery cash awards.
The nine community and youth groups from West Yorkshire will receive £68,048 between them.
Leeds Roller Dolls, a women's roller skate Roller Derby team, has been granted £2,250 for new equipment.
It will enable them to form their own league and build up equipment available to new members to try the sport before buying their own.
St Patrick's County Primary School in Burmantofts, Leeds, will use £9,532 to run extra curricular sporting activities for local youngsters.
The children will receive tuition from professional coaches but the grant also pays for footballs, rugby and basket balls, athletics and tennis equipment.
The Leeds Lubavitch Youth Organisation has been awarded £9,906 for social and educational programmes for children.
Leeds Rowing Club has been given £9,870 to extend its junior section.
The club will run Learn 2 Row courses with the safety equipment and kit and it will also pay for coaching.
The Leeds-based Yorkshire Archaeological Society is to receive £8,601 to buy equipment for lectures and courses.
The equipment will also enable them to scan fragile historic documents.
Sohni Seyhat, a group recently set up to run a health promoting lunch and social club for elderly women from the Indian communities in Leeds, will use £9,600 to fund running costs such as worker fees, hall hire, food costs and providing transport. The newly-formed East Ardsley Art Club near Wakefield has been awarded £1,062 to help establish various groups and attract members.
Wakefield's Hundhill Hall Cricket Club, will be improved with two practice wickets and a mobile cricket net with its grant of £9,616.
A group which develops and teaches Indian dance and music to young people – the Wakefield Indian Dance and Music Association has been awarded £7,605 to showcase member's skills in Indian classical music and dance.
A total of £459,448 is being distributed to 60 groups across Yorkshire and Humberside in the latest round of awards by the Lottery's Awards For All.
