GENEROUS West Yorkshire people have made this year's Toy Appeal the biggest and best ever after bringing Christmas cheer to more than 7,000 needy youngsters.
A heartfelt thank you has gone out to the thousands who have kindly donated gifts to make sure sick and disadvantaged youngsters have a present to open on Christmas Day.
Over 135 local workplaces, 15 schools and thousands of individuals donated gifts for The Cash for Kids Toy Appeal which is sponsored by Crown Point Shopping Park.
These could be dropped off at any Barclays branch, the Yorkshire Evening Post and the Radio Aire and Magic 828 studios which were praised by Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland.
He submitted a motion in Parliament stating: "The toy appeal has been running for a number of years now and has been providing a valuable service to the people of Leeds.
"It is easy to get carried away at Christmas and forget that not everyone is in a position to enjoy themselves, that is why this appeal is so important and why I want to bring it to the attention of my colleagues in Westminster.
"The more publicity we generate for the appeal the more successful it will hopefully be."
All gifts will be delivered to children that need them in time for Christmas by the Cash for Kids team of volunteers who will continue to work tirelessly right up to Christmas Eve.
Cash for Kids Charity Manager at Radio Aire, Ros Raine, said: "It's been amazing. We've had schoolchildren who have saved their pocket money to buy a gift for another child for the appeal through to businesses collecting hundreds of toys at their busiest time.
"We've had over 80 volunteers giving up their time to help – not to mention the thousands of individuals that have donated gifts. We are overwhelmed. All of you have made a massive difference to a child's Christmas this year."
