THE heat – not the insurgents – are the biggest worry for Morley soldier Lee Pailing who has just flown out to Iraq.
"Middle East temperatures are crazy," he said. "We will be serving there in summer and expect temperatures of 50C. That's the only thing I am not looking forward to."
Lee, 35, says he has not got used to it despite a tour of Afghanistan last year.
He is a member of the 2nd Signals Regiment and will be based at Baghdad International Airport as a detachment commander.

He will have five or six men under him but says: "Hopefully, I won't have to give them orders. We know each other and we are a good team.
"Our job will be to provide secure communications for British officers so they can talk to each other."
Lee says he expects he might be involved in hostilities in Iraq. "Everybody hopes they won't," he said, "but we are trained for it and the odd incident is likely to happen."
Lee came back to his wife Michelle and their two sons, aged 15 and 17, at the end of last summer after performing a similar role in Afghanistan.
