A MURDER investigation is under way after a young woman was carried into a police station in a "collapsed state" in the early hours of Saturday.
Knottingley woman Michelle Greenwood died after she was taken to Thorne police station, near Doncaster, just before 4am.

She was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but died there at around 5.45am.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said a man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

She said a post-mortem examination had revealed the 20-year-old had been strangled.

The police station was sealed off on Saturday as investigations continued, along with a nearby stretch of road.

Both areas have now been reopened.

The spokeswoman said: "A 28-year-old man from the Stainforth area of Doncaster has been arrested on suspicion of murder."
