THE family of the late Jane Tomlinson are tackling a 2,500-mile ride from Istanbul to Leeds. Widower Mike, 49, daughter Rebecca, 22, and son Steven, 13, along with family and friends, aim to reach Leeds on August 30. Mike is keeping a diary for the YEP
Support driver Andrew Harrington:

Day five and I thought I'd give you a view from behind the wheel (where the real graft happens).

Another early start and wrong turn before we pulled onto road number six, think A1 but with no room either side of the carriageway.

A quick executive decision was made and we drove a bit further on before depositing the cyclists.

With the usual minimal fuss and enthusiasm the bikers set off up the hill in the vague direction of Dryanovo.

Vague is the key word, the satnav only registers the main roads so often it refuses to believe we are anywhere, the maps and road signs get us halfway around before we get to a fork with random name places that aren't on the map!!

My tactic is head up hill, especially when someone has stopped you only to get a chainsaw out of his boot and started to rev it up! I kid you not.

It's a rest day tomorrow, so I'm off to enjoy the raki.
