A Leeds sex offender is facing life in jail after being found guilty of the sadistic murder and sexual assault of his 14-year-old neighbour.
A jury took just 45 minutes to find Michael Clark, 40, guilty of killing Zuzanna Zommer in her Leeds home last October.
Clark left the teenager in a pool of blood on her parents' bedroom floor after cutting her throat and fracturing her skull. He will be sentenced by a judge at Sheffield Crown Court today.
Zuzanna's parents were unaware that Clark – who has a 20-year history for violence and sex offences including rape – was a paedophile.
The family moved to a house two doors away from him on Compton Row, Harehills, Leeds, after moving to Yorkshire from Poland to start a new life last August.
The family initially befriended the loner. But on October 1 solvent abuser Clark waited until Zuzanna was alone in the house before killing her. He then drew his dole money from the Post Office before going to Blackpool Pleasure Beach where he spent the day enjoying the rides and sniffing glue.
He was arrested on his return home that night when he blood splattered clothes were found by officers who burst into his home. Evil Clark refused to accept he had committed the killing despite overwhelming forensic evidence against him.
During the two week trial he even resorted to claiming police had planted evidence against him. Dressed in a dark grey sweat shirt, track suit bottoms and trainers, partially deaf Clark, who wore a hearing device throughout the trial showed no emotion as the guilty verdicts were announced by the jury foreman.
The seven man five woman jury took less than an hour to convict him of murder and a sexual assault.
His Honour Mr Justice King will sentence Clark today.
