SANTA is alive in Leeds and has repaired the shattered happiness of two autistic sisters devastated by the theft of their trampoline.
For the huge hearted anonymous Santa took a substantial part of his next year's present budget to replace Haley and Hannah Turner's 10ft trampoline.
His generosity has helped rebuild the faith in human nature of the girls' parents Paula and David T
urner.
The Yorkshire Evening Post highlighted the heartless theft of the activity equipment – so helpful to both youngsters' development – from the back garden of their parents' home in Templegate Rise, Temple Newsam, Leeds. Both Haley,11, and Hannah, 12, were inconsolable.
The family's finances had been hit earlier when Mr Turner had been made redundant from his job as a tooling engineer at West Yorkshire Foundries and the prospect of a quick replacement of the trampoline looked slim.
Surprise
Then this week came the surprise telephone call from a policeman from Killingbeck who rang to check the family would be at home if he called.
"I thought the trampoline had possibly been found, but he said no. But then he explained that someone had gone into the station with an envelope full of money and a note. The note read 'Please forward to Hannah and Haley. Love Santa.'" said Mrs Turner.
"I could not believe it, I could have cried. It shows you there are still some really nice people left in the world," said the grateful mum.
"We ordered a replacement trampoline straight away and when it comes David is going to concrete it into the ground so it can never be stolen.
"Haley had really missed the trampoline and Hannah is overjoyed. We would really like to convey our heartfelt thanks to the person for their great generosity. It was wonderful." added Mrs Turner.
