Fire crews rush to Leeds plane after smoke alert

FIRE crews made an emergency dash to Leeds-Bradford Airport following reports of smoke in a plane's cockpit.
The pilot of the Embraer 135, carrying 18 passengers, called for help ahead of landing at the airport at 6.50am on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Rawdon and Cookridge rushed to the scene but the plane landed safely and the incident was a false alarm.
It is believed there was a fault with the plane's smoke detector.
