Fatal M1 Leeds smash: new appeal

A man who was killed on the M1 after getting out of his van on the motorway hard shoulder has been named as 40-year-old Felix Vella, from Cross Gates, Leeds.

Mr Vella, of Hawkhill Gardens, was killed near junction 47 shortly after stopping his white transit.

The incident happened at about 12.50pm on Tuesday, June 3.

Mr Vella is said to have got out of the van before being hit by a vehicle in the outer lane. He suffered fatal injuries.

He was wearing a high visibility jacket at the time of the incident.
