Driver hurt in crash with cow

A driver from Leeds has been seriously hurt after his car hit a cow on a dual carriageway, police said.
The 34-year-old was on the A66 near Bowes in County Durham when it hit the stray animal. The cow died instantly.

The driver suffered serious injuries and internal bleeding and is in a critical condition at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
