A CASTLEFORD Tigers player who flew to Australia after being released from his contract is wanted by police on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Magistrates at Pontefract issued a warrant when New Zealand international Sione Faumuina, 28, failed to appear last Friday.

Faumuina, of Redhill Road, Castleford, was charged with causing grievious bodily harm with intent at Big Fellas nightclub in Pontefract on February 2.

The Crown Prosecution Service said it would consider extradition if he was out of the country.

David Smart, Tigers' media manager, said: "Sione was released from his contract and as far as we are aware, he has returned to Australia." West Yorkshire Police urged him, or anyone who knew where he was, to contact them.

Faumuina joined the Tigers this year on a one-year deal from the North Queensland Cowboys. He won two caps in 2003 and 2004. He played 21 games for the Tigers.
