A darkened alleyway in south Leeds will have street lighting installed after residents voiced safety concerns.

The area, which is between Old Road and Manor Road, in Churwell, is to be lit after an application for £4,800 from Leeds City Council’s Outer South Area Committee proved successful last month.

Coun Tom Leadley (Morley Borough Independent, Morley North) said: “It is very dark and residents were rightly concerned about community safety especially during dark winter nights. I am pleased we have finally got this problem sorted.”
