A FRIGHTENED teenage girl was locked in a car and subjected to a sex assault after leaving a Leeds city centre nightclub, a court heard.
The 18-year-old only got away from her attacker after swapping phone numbers and pretending to be willing to meet her tormentor at a later date, a jury at Leeds Crown Court heard.

Somalian Mustafa Botan, 36, of Harehills Lane, Leeds, denies false
imprisonment of the girl and sexual assault in the early hours of January 22.

Prosecutor, Andrew Semple, said the girl had been out for a number of hours drinking with friends when she decided to leave Rehab nightclub to go home.

Mr Semple said soon after the girl left she became aware of what she thought was a taxi driving close to her.

Botan got out and said to her 'Come with me' to which she replied 'no.'

Mr Semple said: "He got her by the shoulders and pushed her a short distance to his car. He put a hand on her back and pushed her through the door. She was taken by surprise, very frightened.

"She thought she heard the central locking mechanism of the vehicle go. The defendant was saying 'I respect you, come to mine, I will sleep with you, I have got a condom.'"

The court was told Botan tried to kiss her and then sexually assaulted her. "She was scared of what he might be capable of," said Mr Semple. "And was scared he was going to start the car and drive away. On the spur of the moment she took the view that the best thing for her to do was to try to mollify.

"She began to talk to him to promise she would see him the next day. She was to offer to take his phone number and give him hers, which she did, with a view to get out."

Mr Semple said after Botan called the number to check it the girl was able to get out of the car.

The court heard after Botan was arrested he told police the girl had flagged him down and asked to get into his car.

He claimed the girl had instigated sexual contact with him.
