THIRTY-FIVE people have been arrested and £145,000 of Class A drugs seized in a police operation in Leeds.

Details of the massive operation were released today at the end of four days of raids across the city.

Police executed warrants throughout the city in the last four days as part of Operation Brava.

It is the latest stage of the operation whic
h began in November 2004 and has led to over 670 people being charged with significant drug supply offences, many of whom remain behind bars.

Police said that of those arrested, 29 people had been charged with drug and money laundering offences and are going through the court system.

Chief Supt Ian Whitehouse, from North West Leeds division, said: "If you have information about drug dealing in your area, now is the time to pass it on."

Chief Supt Whitehouse warned those found guilty of drugs offences would also be hit under recent legislation allowing police to strip the assets from criminals.

He added: "To achieve our aims we have to get your support. You may know who these people are, the so-called 'Untouchables', the so called 'Role Models'.

"I urge you to support us so that we can really tackle these individuals and their families that seek to blight your daily lives."

Detective Insp Ian Devey of West Yorkshire Police's Crime Division said: "With our continued attacks on the drug market through Operation Brava we have already seen organised drug dealing networks begin to crumble and major dealers being brought to justice.

"We have officers working around the clock to match your information. Every arrest chips away at the local drug market and allows us to make major inroads in identifying who the top dealers are."
