BANK accounts of convicted West Yorkshire drug dealers have been emptied of more than £1m.
Financial experts used by the police are keying into criminals' cash and in one case a man from Burley, Leeds, sentenced to eight years for drugs offences, was made to hand over nearly £400,000.
Det Chief Supt Max Mclean, Head of West Yorkshire Police's Crime Division, today told criminals across the county they would not be allowed to profit from their crimes.
"We will not only investigate your criminal activity and put you before the courts, we will also use the latest legislation to strip you of the ill-gotten gains you've generated from those crimes," he said.
And his message today is that targeted criminals can never be clear of the fear that at any time they can be ordered to hand over any illegal money they might acquire in the future.
Anyone with information about the drugs trade should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
