As a band they might only have lasted a few short months but folk aficionados will tell you Fotheringay were no mere flash in the pan.
The one album Sanny Denny, Pat Donaldson, Trevor Lucas, Gerry Conway and Jerry Donahue released on Island Records in 1970 has had a lasting influence on British folk-rock.
Packed with marvellous songs such as Nothing More, The Sea and The Way That I Feel, it's justifiably held up as a classic of the genre.
After the deaths of singer Denny and guitarist Lucas few would have expected to hear from the band again, but now all five original members have been 'reunited' on a new album, Fotheringay 2.
The 11-track CD has been assembled from master tapes of various recording sessions by the band in 1970-71 and is to be unveiled by boutique folk label Fledg'ling later this month.
To mark the release the record store Wall of Sound, on John William Street, Huddersfield, is holding a launch party this Sunday.
The event, which starts at 7pm and is free of charge, will feature special guests Jerry Donahue and Pat Donaldson.
Store owner Elliot Smaje said: "For anyone who loves the cannon of work that the 'Fairport Convention family' put out, this release is a significant edition.
"Historically it sits between Sandy Denny's departure from Fairport Convention and the start of her solo career. Indeed everyone in the band has since become a member of Fairport Convention itself – bar Pat Donaldson – and he played in Richard Thompson's band, which is as good as!
"I can vouch for the fact that this album will be as good as the first. Reviews have already been glowing."
