OLIVIA Payne has been unable to visit one of her home town's most famous spots.
But the paraplegic teenager is aiming to finally explore Otley Chevin after a local charity pledged to raise funds for a go-anywhere, battery-powered wheelchair.

Olivia, 16, who developed complex disabilities after being born prematurely, loves being outdoors and the chair would give her more freedom.

Fundraising for the £8,500 machine, which would allow her to venture off the road instead of sticking to ordinary pavements, has begun.

Hang on to a Dream, chaired by Otley councillor Nigel Francis, agreed to raise the cash for Olivia after Joanna approached the Otley Lions for help. The club later kick-started the appeal with a £1,000 donation.

Anyone wishing to support the Hang on to a Dream campaign can send a cheque, made payable to the Olivia Payne Appeal, to Coun Francis, 6 Pearson Buildings, Otley, LS21 3BQ.
