Meet Nadiya at Leeds book signing

Former Great British Bake-Off winner Nadiya Hussain is returning to Leeds in the new year to sign copies of her first novel.

The show’s 2015 champion - who was living in Roundhay when she applied to take part - releases her first book, The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters, in January.

The first-time author’s debut novel tells the story of four British Bangladeshi girls who are the only Muslim family in an English village.

Nadiya, who has since carved out a career as a cookery writer and TV presenter, will be at Waterstones on Albion Street on January 17 from 1-2pm.

The book’s themes explore life, faith and identity for second generation Asian immigrants in the UK, and focus on sisters Fatima, Farah, Bubblee and Mae. The girls worry about weight, loneliness, marriage, their careers and social media, and all have different goals and obstacles to overcome.

Nadiya now lives in Milton Keynes with her husband and three children.
