Globally, millions of thumbs are still aching from playing the addictive Angry Birds game.
It’s cool, innovative and you keep going back for more – much like Yorkshire’s own Lightwater Valley theme park, which is now home to the UK’s biggest Angry Birds activity park.
A £1m later, it looks amazing and is a winner with kids and adults – plus giant indoor and outdoor areas make it perfect for all weather enjoyment.
We went with two 18-month-olds in the sun and had to prise them away from the slides, games and enormous climbing frames which they’d have stayed on all day.
But Lightwater boasts much more – 10 extreme rides, 13 less fierce but fun and 11 perfect for the little ones.
Standouts are The Ultimate (Europe’s longest coaster), the underground Raptor Attack and the stomach churning Whirlwind (my personal favourite).
Skeleton Cove is another fun part for pirates seeking treasure chests of fun. It’s also home to the Black Pearl – a 360 degree ride that looked a bit too choppy for me!
The little kids’ rides are brilliant too, from spinning teacups and animals to a tractor ride through Eagle’s Creek Farm – all ready-made memory makers.
The park is immaculate – hardly any litter, well maintained lands and pathways and clean, plentiful toilets – and it also has a genteel boating lake.
Bird lovers should flock straight for the falconry centre, home to some amazing birds of prey. You can even hold one and grab a photo too.
So belt up for a cracking ride.
