Have your say

If you fancy seeing something spectacular on your doorstep then you may want to grab your seat for this event.

Leeds is famous for many things, not least its culture, tourism and shopping – and it is about to get another string to its bow.

On July 5, the Tour de France – the world’s largest annual sporting event – will begin right here in Leeds.

And to get the Tour party started on July 3, Leeds’ shiny new state-of-the-art arena will host the biggest ever Team Presentation Ceremony in the history of the Tour.

The event promises to be massive with all 22 teams spectacularly presented on the big stage with a huge dose of glitz and glamour. And it doesn’t stop there.

Extra wow-factor will be in the shape of live acts and entertainment, which will form part of the show too – acts will be announced soon, so more to come on that in the future.

You can grab tickets online or pop in to the arena box office in Trinity Leeds shopping centre where there’s no service charges.

It’s the perfect starter for the main course that is the Grand Départ of the Tour which will start outside Leeds Town Hall on July 5 and finish in Harrogate, going via the Yorkshire Dales.

Day two sees the riders head out of York and through the Pennines, culminating in a finish in Sheffield.

It’s all free to see the race and a series of 20 spectator hubs – also free – will be dotted around the route where thousands of people can see the race on big screens, enjoy some food, live entertainment and also a toilet stop.

It’s going to be a Tour-ific week.
