When you’ve got kids (or grandkids) no matter how hard you try, you can’t help but get drawn into their world – and their favourite TV programmes.
So I am unavoidably well-versed in the adventures of a certain pig called Peppa and her little friends.
So for a family day out – on Father’s Day – Doncaster Racecourse might just have cracked the code and come up with a fun day that ticks all the boxes.
I’m a sucker for a good raceday – the dressing up, the music, the crowds, the big stands, and of course a cheeky flutter on the gee gees.
And my daughter is a sucker for Peppa Pig – her crazy capers, banter with her brother and jumping in muddy puddles.
This Sunday sees the famous racecourse – known for being home to the one and only St Leger – lay on special activities for all ages including appearances by Peppa in the special show area, fairground rides, interactive games and other mascots like the racecourse’s own
Archie, who’ll be letting kids sign up for his Young Hooves Kids Club and get a free goodie bag.
They’re also planning an RAF Falcons live parachute display at around 3.45pm with plenty of smoke and colour, plus a Peter Pan pantomime for something a bit more chilled.
A whopping 22,000 people came last year, so they’ve laid on even more parking, picnic areas and catering so it’s worth getting their early and making a day of it.
And if you do win big and end up buying a yacht, you’ll know what to call her.
