Have your say

On its website, Cannon Hall Farm describes itself as ‘the perfect family day out’. That’s quite a bold claim, so let’s put it to the test.

With as many as 750 lambs born between New Year and Easter and piglets are arriving at the farm all year round – not to mention the new pygmy goats – cute animals are guaranteed every time you visit.

That’s a big tick on the family-friendly list.

And after you’ve said hello to all of the animals, you can experience the day to day workings of a modern farmyard, plus the opportunity to witness a milking demonstration.

On top of that, there’s some fantastic new play equipment including pyramid towers, a climbing forest and a new tube maze – all certain to tire the kids out.

There’s ferret racing if you fancy something a bit more ‘fast-paced’, and if you happen to visit during the school holidays, there is – would you believe – sheep racing too!

For the grown-ups, the farm shop is widely acknowledged as one of the best around and will without doubt satisfy your desire for excellent produce, while the delightful tearoom boasts a delicious menu too.

Another plus is how easy Cannon Hall Farm is to get to, being just ten minutes west of the M1, which means no stressful drive along winding country roads to a backwater farmstead, as you might otherwise expect.

So after all that, it turns out Cannon Hall Farm might just have a point – it really does sound like the perfect family day out.
