Following the success of last year's official Yorkshire South By South West Showcase, Huddersfield-based social enterprise Timeless Music Project was back once more at SXSW, having secured last minute sponsorship from digital company NorthernNet.

SXSW in Austin, Texas is arguably the most important US music conference for breaking UK music – helping to launch the careers of the Kaiser Chiefs, Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae to name a few.

This year's Yorkshire SXSW Showcase was at capacity throughout excellent performances from Leeds bands Grammatics and Middleman, Helmsley's One Night Only and Sheffield's Slow Club and The Crookes.

Yorkshire shared the day with the official Welsh Music Showcase at the prestigious British Music Embassy venue, Austin, Texas.

TMP also promoted this year's promo-only Independent Sounds of Yorkshire and the Humber 2010 CD featuring an excellent bunch of Yorkshire bands approached by SXSW to showcase. These included Serious Sam Barrett, In The Nursery, Standard Fare, Scars on 45, Alvarez Kings and organiser Pat Fulgoni's own band Kava Kava, who played SXSW at other venues as part of a US tour taking in dates including New York, Los Angeles and Arizona.

Project Manager Pat Fulgoni said that he hoped the point had been proved well enough to repeat this activity for future years and "would like to thank our sponsors, funders and partners – NorthernNet and also Yorkshire Forward, Screen Yorkshire, UK Trade and Investment Yorkshire and the Arts Council – without whom this work at SXSW would not have been possible."
