Review: Enter Shikari

January 18 @ The Cockpit

CHATTING to the guys from Enter Shikari a couple of hours before the gig, they were cool and collected, and certainly not emulating the characteristics of the monster performance they were about to give us.

The crowd gathered, young and old, until the venue was full of the most eclectic of age groups, with an atmosphere that couldn’t be rivalled. This was Enter Shikari’s time, time to show everyone why their new album A Flash Flood of Colour had charted at No.1 on the day of release. They kicked the show off with System, quickly flowing through track after track displaying endless energy and a synchronised excitement with the sold-out floor in front of them. Smashing through the songs, old and new, they were fierce with their performance – at no point did they stop to rest – constantly engaging fans at every opportunity. Fans stage-diving like lemmings to the sea during one of my personal favourites, Mothership, really told the story of how energetic, fast-paced and immense this show was.

Musically, their performance was water-tight and as for crowd interaction, Enter Shikari have it in abundance. This was one of the best shows I have seen in the last 18 months, and they are due to tour the UK in March this year. If you get the chance, you need to go and see them when they are in a town near you – you definitely won’t regret it.
