Wise words for next generation
IN my opinion, the best advice lately has been from Pope Benedict to 200,000 young pilgrims gathered in Australia.
He is urging the young people of the world to reject the "spiritual desert" which, he says, is spreading throughout the globe.
He said the young would be responsible for building a "New Age" free from 'greed, apathy and selfishness.'
Although not Catholic myself, I found his words refreshing.
He described the "desert" as 'an interior emptiness, an unnamed fear, a quiet sense of despair.'
Many older people will surely recognise the sense in his words, possibly more than younger folk.
