Utter waste of money

WE live in a cul de sac, comprising two blocks of two-storey flats.

A couple of weeks ago, as with everyone else, we were delivered yet another wheelie bin – brown, this time, for garden waste.

Although half of the properties have no garden they were issued with bins which are now stood like soldiers on the footpath as there are no gardens for the bins to go in.

This has resulted in the green bins not being emptied as the brown bins are using up valuable parking space. The council have been informed but the bins still remain.

To add insult to injury, a new lamp has just been installed opposite our flat. It is a couple of feet from the existing one and to us looks exactly the same.

Why are we expected to pay such high rates when money is being wasted day after day? Money which could be used to help the local community.

WENDY SIMPSON, Flexbury Avenue, Morley
