I MUST write with regard to the letter from F Newsome, commenting on the project of turning elephant dung into paper (a project I have never heard of until now). What an appalling letter.

He/she suggests a better idea would be to use elephant skin to make boots, shoes and handbags!

Elephants and other species of animals face extinction because selfish, brainless people consider it acceptable to kill living creatures to provide them with luxury items.

No doubt F Newsome approves of blood "sports" enjoyed by his/her fellow morons.

I am a vegetarian and do not approve of killing animals for any reason and as far as boots, shoes and handbags are concerned, it is not even necessary to make these from leather – there are many good synthetics available.

Animals should be respected and protected, not exploited.

Finally, I could suggest a number of creative uses for elephant dung – all of them involving F Newsome!
