Ruining the view
THE Grade I-listed Abbey House Museum is photographed at the same angle by many visitors from home and abroad. It is also a scene painted by artists.
This beautiful building, I'm sorry to say, is now showing the disrespect of some person or persons who decided the 30ft plastic banner advertising meals, hung across the length of the building, would bring more trade but instead advertising 'we're only in it for the money'.
People of Kirkstall, twinned with Morrisons having now lost their village look, their post office, bank and shops, soon to lose their library and chemist, would like to think their immediate environment would not be spoiled by a revolting plastic banner.
Also the said banner is not a good backdrop for all the hard work put in by the Abbey gardeners whose splendid show of flowers can be seen when passing by on the A65 corridor from Leeds.
To those concerned: Please remove the banner.
Mr J Fisher, Kirkstall, Leeds
