AN interesting letter 'Queuing dilemma' (YEP, August 21) but fundamentally flawed.
For my sins, I have been a branch manager of a major high street bank in the Leeds/Bradford area for a number of years. Contrary to the said letter, my staff do not 'smirk or grin' when seeing a customer waiting or out of turn.

In point of fact, we will send someone (usually me) to walk the queues and take out the customers who are not waiting to do a purely transactional function.

And one last thing. What other queues can you name that culminate with a 'free' ending. Cashing a cheque? Paying in? Setting up a standing order? What some mortgage advice? Want to shout at the manager? It's ALL free.

Mike Cheseldine, Meanwood, Leeds
