Price of political failure
I SEE that you are continuing to receive letters about the refuse workers strike (YEP, May 10). What Coun Richard Bret (Lib Dem) fails to tell us in his letter is why is it that only Leeds is suffering such a strike?
Given that all councils had to do such a pay review, what did they do right in Wakefield and Bradford, for instance, that the local politicians in Leeds failed to do?
I also feel sympathy with Barbara Hawkshaw in Gildersome. You might think that her local indepen-dent politicians or those politicians directing the work of council officers would ensure that no-one was missed for three weeks!
Stephen Clark, Bawn Approach, Leeds
