Let's really aid Burma
THIS is a very strange world we live in. The dictators of Burma not only suppress their population but when disaster strikes they continue with a referendum and "protect" that population from the aid agencies and stop flights bringing in supplies.
I do hope that the world will not just hand over the aid that does arrive to the so-called government, they have already lined their own pockets and that would just give them the opportunity to do so again.
It is interesting that we (the UK) can invade some countries and overrun their governments but when a whole population is in danger all we can manage is some comments in the UN.
This should be a case where the UN takes control and decides what is really best for the people of Burma.
