Lessons from our rich heritage

I SUPPORT the view that Clare Hasiger and Asher France have about there not being enough black history in our schools on the curriculum. I back them wholeheartedly.
I'm a mother of two mixed race children and I asked their auntie the other day, (her children are five and seven), and it always seems to be that it's always about the slavery days.
I know that's black history but there's a whole lot more positive things that have happened.
There are black people such as Mary Seacole, a famous nurse – and there are other famous black people that have represented us in the past.
I just hope that it will change by the time my children go to school (my twins are three years old at the moment). It would be so wonderful if it could.
Culture
They also come from an Irish background as well and I don't want them just to be just learning about Irish and English history. It would be nice if they could have to learn about such a wonderful heritage and culture from our schools.
