Labour's just not listening
ONCE upon a time we had MPs we voted for who we know would work for us at Westminster. Now we have MPs who do not do that, they must toe the party line.
As we have seen in recent days the letters of disgust to the YEP about the eco-village that the Government wants at a site near Selby and why residents living near this site think it is inappropriate and why it will spoil their lives.
Why does the local MP think it would be a good idea? He supports the plan. Is he listening to his voters? If he is not then will he be elected at the next election?
Paul Kilroy was right in his letter (YEP, 16 February) about the things Leeds has lost out on: no children's hospital; no transport system; no arena; it goes on and on.
This Labour government cuts down on grants to council funds not for the first time. Cities like Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester and Newcastle do not get cutbacks in their funding to their councils.
Apparently Leeds has mostly Labour MPs at Westminster; why are they not asking why we lose out? But then, you see, Leeds does not have a Labour-run council. It says it all.
