LABOUR seems to want to punish "greedy" BP with a windfall tax. Why stop there? Re-nationalise it and we can return to the good old days of the seventies. BP is one of the UK's success stories and most of its profits are made in the oilfields. Very little is made at the pumps.

The Government takes 70 per cent or so of forecourt prices in tax and it is this revenue that should be cut. Labour should publish the breakdown of pump prices so that we, the voters, can see where our money goes.

M NICHOLSON, Barwick, Leeds.
