Disappointment at the doctors
Published Date:

I'M pleased for those who can get an appointment with their GP at weekends and evenings.
I called to make a routine appointment for a long-term condition, and was told "no bookable appointments for August". The best they could offer was to tell me to ring at 8am every day on the off-chance that there might be a same day appointment.
The appointments system changes every time I try to get one. Nothing more than seven days in advance, then it's a month, then it's three days.
When I ask how that fits with the Government's targets, there is no answer. But "no bookable appointments in August" simply isn't good enough.
Absolutely no complaints once you manage to make an appointment but why is it so damned difficult?
