THE cruel fate of Baby P beggars belief and the parent and guardian of this defenceless boy should feel the full power of the law against them.

The Cat o' nine tails would have been their punishment a number of years ago – a punishment they would rightly have deserved and, hopefully there will be no slapped wrists here!

The doctor who examined the child but could find no injuries should also face charges for gross negligence and her medical competence be investigated.

We await the outcome and the heads to role. Don't fail us now, remember at this moment some baby may be in peril.

Reginald Kirby, Stanningley, Pudsey

When Gordon Brown said many parents would be outraged at what Baby P had to suffer in his short life he was perfectly right. But you, sir, are more to blame for allowing it to happen.

When men and women have given their lives for this not to happen it is nothing else but a disgrace.

In my opinion it is time the Labour movement were put back in the Commons to speak and also keep an eye on just what goes on.

N Knott, Gamble Hill, Leeds
