Ball-game blight of dead-end kids

WELL said, Mrs Rhodes of Kippax, Leeds, with your letter in response to the 'Let Us Play' campaign. God help us all if 'No ball games' signs are taken down. I have lived on a dual carriageway for the last 23 years because of an earlier experience of living in a 'quiet' cul-de-sac where ball games were the norm.
And while I'm on the subject of kids, as an ex-teacher, give me a dog any day (reference your recent letters regarding dogs being allowed in parks).

I'm not anti-children; I have raised three children very happily and successfully. But I have seen at first hand in the classroom how awful our 'sweet little/everything must be done for children' really are. Also, diners are now constantly harrassed by children in restaurants, a traditional adult environment. It shouldn't be happening, it shouldn't be allowed. I've recently lost my beloved dog and have experienced at first hand how wonderful it is to own, love, and be loved, by a dog.
