Airport charges over the top

I HAVE just thought I would write to you about the car park charges at Leeds Bradford Airport.

As a regular to Dublin over the last three years, I took my wife across to Ireland for the day as a birthday treat.

We went on April 28 and I was surprised to see it would cost £25 to park; last time I went it was £19. We had just come back from f
ive days in Malta via Manchester Airport and parking was only £22.50 for five days – yes, five days!

The lower car park at Leeds Bradford Airport was empty except for a couple of cars. I don't wonder with the price they charge. I certainly will be looking at getting flights and holidays from further away.

Backing GPs

SURGERIES will be open 24 hours a day but GPs say there is no real need for it. I heartily agree with the GPs.

Unfortunately we have a surgery that now closes on a Friday tea time, but would be very advantageous just to have the extra little bit of the Saturday morning that we usually have until lunch time. But we certainly don't need somebody 8am to 8pm somewhere in Leeds when we all have our own surgeries that we depend on and get to know our GPs.

Worth a visit

I THINK your correspondent Gary Sockall must have taken a swig of the battery acid he was advocating (Letters, May 3) rather than visit Manchester. Just like Leeds, it has very interesting and exciting places to visit and good shopping facilities.

May I suggest he takes a trip to the Lowry Centre, the Trafford Centre and he will discover it is an attractive place.

I would not pick Manchester or my hometown of Leeds for a long holiday spot, but certainly it should not be discarded as a place to visit.

Flight of fancy?

I FEEL I must comment on your reader's letter (YEP, May 1). I, too, had the same experience.

Thinking I had found flights to Spain, £101 for two return with Jet2, I started to book online and the total was £213. I couldn't believe it, as in the same night's paper was a big advert for Jet2 stating a price of £39 all taxes included, which is not the case.

I tried contacting Jet2 with no success. I really feel that their ads are a big con.

Regarding Airport parking charges. This is the result of letting these private rip off merchants run the car parks there and at the Hospitals. Car parking revenue shoukd be reasonable and all revenue should accrue to the airlines to enable them to possibly cut fares.
