Adults are the problem
IF the people from Kippax in your letters page travelled to Leeds via train they may have seen an area just around the corner from me known as 'Beirut'.
There is a field at the side of my house, and yes, the children do play. I have a large garden and a very long hedge adjoining the field and it is good condition. I was born and bred on this estate and am 73. Yes, we have had glue sniffers, burglaries galore, car thieving, car burning, arson on property and the community centre, and now, obviously, drugs. My garden wall has been demolished nine times and not by children – by adults.
So please support these children in their right to play, in play areas designed for them. When we had the wooden play area vandalism was reduced, the nursery and day centre were not broken into or damaged once.
