United's boss recalled club captain Richard Naylor after a thigh strain on Tuesday night and the centre-back is set to retain his place tomorrow having come through 90 minutes at Prenton Park without a
reaction.

Grayson's main problems surround Mike Grella and Shane Lowry, with neither player expected to feature at St Mary's.

Grella has a hamstring strain and will spend the next fortnight on the sidelines while on-loan Aston Villa left-back Lowry returned to his parent club earlier in the week to undergo scans on a knee injury.

A lack of fitness has ruled Lowry out of what would have been the final match of his short-term deal at Elland Road, though Leeds have the option of extending his loan and are likely to do so if the Australian's injury heals quickly.

Fellow left-back Ben Parker is working his way back to full fitness after recovering from swelling around one of his knees, but he is more likely to feature in next week's reserve fixture against Lincoln City than tomorrow's clash with Southampton.

Goalkeeper Shane Higgs, meanwhile, is close to overcoming a long-term thigh strain and has trained at Thorp Arch this week.
