Leeds United coasted to a convincing 4-1 victory at Prenton Park on Tuesday night to alleviate the worry of again dropping points last weekend.
Brentford gave a decent account of themselves then and United needed an equaliser from Jermaine Beckford to rescue a draw. Simon Grayson will be desperate to keep up the pressure on Norwich, but the Whites face another away game at St Mary's tomorrow.

Alan Pardew has led Southampton to tenth in League One – quite an achievement considering their 10 point deduction at the start of the season – and this has much to do with a solid record at home, where Saints have only lost twice all season.

At the start of the campaign United's away results were very good, but it's fairly clear their performances of late are not up to their earlier standard – Leeds have won only one of their previous six away league games.

The head-to-head record doesn't offer much encouragement either, as Southampton have won three of the last four league meetings on the south coast.

Although the Saints lost last weekend, their two previous home games produced two wins and 10 goals and strikers Lee Barnard and Rickie Lambert are both in fine form and will be a real handful for United's back four. I'd therefore recommend buying the Saints' win index at 13 with Sporting Index.

A major concern for Grayson will be Leeds' apparent defensive issues. A once water-tight backline has shipped almost two goals per game in their last six on the road.

The strikers have still been doing the business at the other end though, especially as Luciano Becchio and Beckford seem to have found their scoring boots again. I fancy goals tomorrow in what should be an entertaining match, so buy (bet higher) total goals at 2.8 with Sporting Index.

The Cheltenham Festival is only days away and excitement is starting to reach fever pitch. We've got some tasty ante-post vouchers in the locker, but there are still a number of decent opportunities to be had, especially now Boylesports are no runner no bet.

On Tuesday I'm starting to get quite sweet on the chances of Jessie Harrington's No-One Tells Me at 10/1 on Betdaq in the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle. She has been beaten twice by Voler La Vedette, but I'm not sure if that one will appreciate the stiff uphill finish and our girl should be better on a sounder surface.

Keep an eye out for Philip Hobbs' Qaspal in this weekend's Imperial Cup at Sandown. He is the ante-post favourite for the Martin Pipe Conditionals Handicap Hurdle, but will need to win to pick up a penalty to get into that race. The Hobbs yard is absolutely flying at the moment and if he wins well on Saturday he will be very short for the Martin Pipe with a feather weight.

David Pipe is obviously targeting this race and the most interesting runner from his stable is Ashkazar at around 14/1. This fellow won the Imperial Cup two years ago and has dropped to what looks a very decent mark.
