Leading travel firm netflights.com are the new shirt sponsors of Leeds United – after agreeing a lucrative three-year deal with the club.
The company have stepped in at the 11th hour after contractual difficulties with a proposed rival sponsor scuppered that agreement.

United's new-look kit, complete with sponsor's logo, will 'debut' in Saturday's home friendly with Belgian outfit FCV Dender at Elland Road.

Netflights.com managing director is lifelong Whites fan and former Huddersfield Town supremo Terry Fisher, who became the youngest chairman in the Football League when he was unveiled the Terriers' chief at the tender age of 29 in the mid-1990s.

Part of the firm's portfolio is Huddersfield-based travel firm Sellers Travel, run by a familiar face to Whites fans' in 70s legend Trevor Cherry – who is hoping to be a regular visitor at Elland Road this season.

Herading the deal, Mr Fisher said: "We are delighted to have concluded this commercial agreement with Leeds United. Travel companies have a great link with football clubs, as football is truly a worldwide phenomenon and netflights.com is excited to be working with the club.

"For me the deal is even sweeter as I have followed Leeds since I was a small boy and this is a relationship that will bring mutual benefit to all parties."

Whites chairman Ken Bates said: "The shirt sponsor is the principal sponsorship opportunity at every club and netflights.com will become part of Leeds United history alongside the other companies that have benefited from being a previous sponsor.

"We are delighted to sign a three-year agreement with a new sponsor to the club which further illustrates the confidence there is in Leeds United from the business community.

"I would like to welcome netflights.com to the Leeds United family and we look forward to working with them for what we all hope will be a mutually beneficial partnership."

The deal was brokered by United head of commercial Steve Lewis and he is thrilled that netflights.com have come on board.

He said: "We are delighted to welcome netflights.com as our new shirt sponsor – they have been a real white knight for us. We had signed a deal earlier in the year but contractual difficulties left us a without a sponsor just weeks before the season starts.

"Netflights.com is a company who are achieving great success and like Leeds has a rich history, something which we are both extremely proud of."

Netflights.com are one of the UK's largest independent travel operators and are in the top 10 of most visited travel websites, while being the UK's number one operator to Dubai and providing deals to 1,500 worldwide destinations.
