3.02pm - Carlisle have not practiced penalties ahead of tonight's second leg.

"I can't replicate a high-tempo game for two hours in front of 16,000 people, which is what they will have gone through first if it does go to penalties," Cumbrians boss John Ward revealed.

"It will simply be a case of how many are capable of taking them if the need arises. People have got to want to be in that position and I would have to look at them it if crops up."

2.05pm - Cumbria police have warned they will not tolerate any trouble at tonight's big match between Carlisle and Leeds United at Brunton Park.

The warning comes after 21 people were arrested as disorder flared before and after United's league game against Leeds in Carlisle last November.

10.55am - David Prutton has urged his team-mates to ignore Carlisle United's intimidating home record when Leeds United go in search of a promotion-saving win at Brunton Park.

Both the Elland Road club and the Football League were due to present their final submissions to a three-man tribunal panel following three days of discussions over United's unprecedented points deduction.
The panel - consisting of retired High Court judge Sir Philip Otton, former Premier League chief executive Peter Leaver and lawyer Peter Cadman - are considering whether the Football League were justified in docking Leeds 15 points last summer after the club left administration without a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).
The panel are due to return a verdict by May 1, 48 hours before the final day of the League One season.

Saturday 19 April
Richard Cramer, a specialist sports lawyer with Leeds-based solicitors Cramer Richards, believes the extension of the arbitration hearing to Monday indicates that both Leeds and the Football League have presented strong submissions to the panel.
Cramer said: "It's not a surprise that the case has gone into a fourth day. It's probably a sign that the panel are hearing strong legal arguments from both sides.
"I'd expect that the panel will have been strongly urged by both Leeds and the Football League to come a decision as quickly as possible. A decision after the end of the season would cause carnage."

Friday 18 April

8.31am - Brighton and Hove Albion have criticised the delay in resolving the bid by play-off rivals Leeds to overturn a 15-point penalty.

In an interview with local paper The Argus managing director Ken Brown says the saga should have been sorted out much sooner in the interests of all League One clubs.

He said: "We are looking at the situation with interest. It's disappointing that, at this late stage of the season, there is still uncertainty about these matters.

"All clubs thought they knew at the start of the season what the rules were and it's unfair to everybody that nobody knows what is happening"

7.24am - Southend United captain Adam Barrett does not think Leeds United should be given back any of their deducted 15 points.

The Elland Road outfit were given the penalty by the Football League for allegedly breaking competition rules on insolvency at the start of the season.

But, although a three-man panel is currently reviewing the verdict, Barrett thinks Leeds' appeal should be unsuccessful.

"I don't think you can suddenly change it at this stage of the season.

"If they do change it then it would allow all the others clubs affected to protest."

Leeds are currently sixth in the table, one place and five points below Blues.

Rovers chief executive Dave Morris said: "We must wait, pending the decision of the appeal.

"We've not made any decision about what we would do until the tribunal's decision has been made public.

"If Leeds are given all 15 points back we would have to look at the situation, as all the other clubs who have a chance of promotion will do.

"We would review our position then and at this stage are not sure what our options will be."

2.18pm - Carlisle United manager John Ward today said the Leeds 15 points saga, which could ruin the Blues' bid for automatic promotion, has heaped embarrassment on football.

Ward told the News and Star said: "It would put the whole game into some kind of controversy and I would be as confused as anybody.

"Why has it taken so long and then come in right at the death of the season?

"I think it's very embarrassing for my profession, and I'm very proud of my profession."

gar,

To me, it does not look like KPMG are working for the clubs best interests. They should have initially put the club to the highest bidder in May. Then again it should have been done when the court order was issued. Then they should have provided full account information. The biggest asset this club has is the supporters and KPMG even seem to be letting that go down the drain by not providing a guarantee.

being a long time supporter of this great club it saddens me to see the debacle that is presently unfolding and hope that kpmg can pull their finger out & get the club back on track to where we belong. Being so far away doesnt lessen the pain of what is happening.Lets get the GREAT back into our club.

The idea of the club not starting the season is absurd. Offering to give the fans the money back then isn't the point. What happens to the season ticket money if Redbus are the new owners ? I hope we get new owners that can clear the debts and get the club back in the premiership instead of relegated. I think any management that mentions not starting the season should be sacked immediately. And they have been in my mind.

A full government investigation should take place into the dealings of KPMG they have definitely not considered other bids fairly and have taken an offer which isnt best for the club.
